Lee and I took an afternoon to visit the Kubota Garden in south Seattle. It is 20 acres of Japanese garden, created by Fujitaro Kubota starting in 1927 with his purchase of five acres. His business was gardening, and the Kubota Garden served as his showcase. Kubota and his family expanded the garden through the years, from 5 acres originally to the 20 acres it is today. The City of Seattle now owns the gardens, and it is open to the public daily from sun up to sun down, free of charge. It is a place for quiet reflection, contemplation, and appreciation of nature's beauty.
