The biggest difference is time. In Michigan we were as far west as one can get in the Eastern Time Zone, we were almost as far north as Canada, and the sky was still light at 9:30 p.m. Today we are as far east as one can be in the Central Time Zone, and it was dark by 8:30. Big difference.
This is what I have learned about Eagle River: the river connects 28 lakes, the largest string of lakes connected by one river in the world. The scenery here is beautiful. During the summer, people fish, hunt, swim, kayak, and partake in other water sports. During the winter, hunting, fishing, skiing and riding snow mobiles seem to be the draw.
Lee and I went to the Riverfront Tavern for dinner. We stumbled upon it, as we do most things in our travels. It turns out the tavern has the best collection of wines for 100 miles around. We each ordered a "wine flight" of 4 wines, 2 oz of each. Of my four wines, I liked the Argentina wine the best. Lee had enchiladas with his:
And I had walleye fish with mine:
Everything was excellent, and probably the best food for miles around. Delicious!
Unfortunately we move on tomorrow, to Duluth, Minnesota. We are due in Idaho in two weeks.
