Today was a long day.
Lee took his driver's test at 12:45 (15 minutes late) and did not pass. (I'm not kidding, he didn't pass.) Lee and I are now mulling over Plan B. We are not yet sure what Plan B is, but will let you known once we have determined what it is.
Why didn't he pass? At the Norristown Dept. of Motor Vehicles is an exit that turns sharply to the right. There are cement curbs on either side. One of the back tires of the RV hit the curb, and that was an automatic fail. So, here's the exit, from Google Maps:
The top lane is the entrance, the bottom is the exit. The exit lane is 15 feet across. What you have to understand is that when you turn a 40 foot motor home, the back wheels track inside the front wheels. That is, the back wheels don't follow the front wheels exactly, but will actually be closer to the inside curb than the front wheels. I'm not convinced this turn can be made without hitting the curb in a 40 foot bus, it's that tight. Lee and I actually went back late this afternoon and took measurements, to figure out how close the front left tire has to be to the outside curb to successfully make the turn.
Next, Lee spent 2 hours in the dentist's chair. He cracked a tooth late last week, lived with it through the long weekend, then had a temporary cap put on today. In two weeks, the permanent cap will be ready.
What can I say, Lee had a rough day!
I believe things always happen for a reason. Not sure what the reason is yet, but I know it will be a good one.
