We met my friend Caroleen and had lunch on the lake, but then headed to the Watkins Glen State Park and "the gorge". I am so glad my neighbors alerted me to this place, it is extraordinary. We hiked the 800 steps through the gorge to the top of the hill, and saw dozens of waterfalls and beautiful rock formations created by the water.
Here is one of the first views of the gorge, after climbing about 50 steps:
And here is Lee and my friend Caroleen:
And several more of the gorge:
Although the temperature in Watkins Glen reached 91 degrees today, the temperatures in the gorge were much cooler. It was the right place to be!
The trail went behind more than a few of the waterfalls...
Tonight, we walked to the town park, and listened to a dixie band!
A special end to a special day. I love summer!!
