More Moose
Yesterday, Lee and I returned to the location where we had seen the bull moose a couple of days before. And this time, we had the pleasure and privilege of watching a cow moose and her calf for almost an hour. When we first arrived they were napping in the willows, and all we saw were the flicking and flapping of ears. But after awhile both arose, slowly ate their way to the river, and then stood in the cooling waters for a long time before returning to the willows. A ranger told us that at this time of year, they eat about 25 pounds or 10,000 calories a day to prepare for winter.
